Hi My name is Austin. I am a new member in this forum and I would be glad sharing with you. My home located far from school, I always had to trek for a distance. Mummy used to escort me for five hundred meters until I got into the school’s gate. It was a real pampering for me to go to school. The long distance and the location of school demotivated me. The whole night I always thought of going to school and irked me. I never did assignments and homework as the distance was so overwhelming to me. Life in high school became so boring and less interesting. I was pissed off with life and never found anything interesting. On a Tuesday afternoon, I felt so tired and decided to run away from school. I couldn’t find the need of being in school. I was so tired and didn’t have the guts of concentrating in class. It took the intervention of teachers to psyche me up but it became so difficult for them. My mum was summoned to the school by the headteacher and I yet never mastered the confidence and courage. I gave up and mummy and daddy had to do a transfer to a nearby school.

I am so much motivated with what I read on this forum. It gives me a sense of belonging and a place to share my experiences. In a forum such as this, I have come to learn how distance and location of a school can adversely affect the student and child's performance in school. In most circumstances and situations, it is always important to take a child to a school which is not far away from school. This is because when the child takes much time to go to school, more energy is needed and the child may feel so much exhausted. This reduces concentration in class and in the end, it affects child's performance.
