Hello to all! I didn’t experience this problem on my own. I was just wondering what you would feel if you found out that it was true. Please, imagine, you are in the program of surrogacy. Your surrogate is 8 weeks pregnant. You have suddenly been informed that she was caught smoking with a cigarette. Or maybe she took a test that confirmed that she is a heavy smoker. It’s not a topic for deciding on that whether it’s harmful to a baby or not. It’s just about your probable reactions in these circumstances. My friend (a lovely couple from Germany) found out that their surrogate continued smoking in the middle of the whole program. They were completely shocked. They actually didn’t take measures to change anything. It was too late, almost the third trimester. What would you do?

It is actually one of the risks. You can avoid that by going to a reputable clinic. They run a background check on the surrogates with all kinds of testing. The ones that pass these tests are then moved to the next step where they can be surrogates for people. Such behaviour from a surrogate is unacceptable. One should take as much time required to find a good clinic for this. Rushing leads to more risks.

Hi there! Smoking is really bad for the baby. The clinic I visited for my surrogacy made sure that my surrogate had no such habits. You need to talk to her and tell her to quit. It can really affect the baby in a very bad manner. I hope it works out for you. Good luck!

That is unacceptable. Our agency promised us they will provide the best care and control over the surrogate for the whole period of her pregnancy. This is why we have chosen the agency in the first place. As being able to control your surrogate yourself is really hard. the agency of our choice (wcob) will at least do some checkups which is necessary to determine whether the surrogate is following the agreement's rules or not. I am sure though that world center of baby will do their job properly to make sure that the surrogates they hire are healthy!

This I am sure must be very difficult for her. This is why I always tell people to research before visiting the clinic mainly because surrogacy procedure is not that simple. The clinic I know about they have proper criteria that the person has to go through. Basically, the surrogate has to have her own children and it is important that she's a nonsmoker. They do conduct a medical test on her to ensure that she isn't or wasn't suffering from any disease. I honestly think that is important. Mainly for both the surrogate and the babies safety. I hope you are able to resolve the situation.

I can't imagine going through such a circumstance. The clinic I am visiting has a proper check and balance. I am glad I decided to visit them. I took a big step of going abroad for my process but it was all worth it. When the time came to match the surrogate they first made sure she passed a criterion. This ensured that she was not a smoker. After this, the clinic even did a medical test on her. This test was done to ensure that she didn't suffer from any past or present illness.

I also all of these concerns. However, the clinic I am visiting they carried out proper tests to make sure she is healthy. Before applying the surrogate had to make sure she met a certain criterion. After that, the clinic carried that test out. Through this test, it was told if she had any present or past illness. Therefore the process really made everything reliable. The surrogate they have matched to us a wonderful person. Hoping for the best.
