I am 34 and I have just found out that I am pregnant with my first child - 4 and a half months gone! I am a little concerned about my job,as I'm sure most people are.I am a postwoman, and have been for around 8 years. As you can imagine it involves a lot of bending, stretching, standing around, and then when on delivery the obvoious problems are carrying the bag which is quite heavy, bending and no loo!!! I haven't told my line manager yet,I will tell her tomorrow, but has anyone any advice on what I should do?? Everyone I've spoken to has said I should only be doing light duties, and my partner isn't very happy at the prospect of me going out on delivery anymore, but as I have never been in this situation before, and there isn't any women at my place of work that has gone through this situation within Royal Mail,I'm not too sure on what to do or where I stand. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello there Krista. Congratulations! The best course of action is to ask a doctor. Only a doctor can guide you properly. This is because every person and case is unique. From what I know it is better to take it easy during pregnancies. Although I have also heard of women who do heavy physical labor while pregnant. Go consult a doctor and act accordingly.

Firstly congratulations to you! I am glad after so many years of struggle you are finally able to conceive. I am sure the feeling must be great. I would suggest telling the people at work. It is important to let them know. I hope everything goes smoothly for you. Good luck to you. Sending my prayers your way.

I think you should opt for a different job. Your DH is rightly concerned about this. This can affect you and your body. I hope you will understand. You may also ask your doctor for advice. They will give you the most honest advice possible. Really hoping for the best for you. Good luck to you.

Is there a way you can stay home for the period of your pregnancy?? If it places so much stress on your shoulders it is not good. but you know what. there are a lot of stories about women carrying babies and doing some hard work because they had to. and still, their babies were born healthy. but if you have the opportunity to stay home for those months, I'd advise you to.
good luck

Firstly, congratulations on getting pregnant. I am so happy for you. I hope your pregnancy goes smoothly. I think you should inform your boss about this. So that they might be able to help you in this situation. If they dont then I think you should switch. Good luck to you. Sending prayers.
