Hello.my son is 2 years and 3 months old and I'm starting potty training this week. When did you start potty training and how long did it take? He's been aware that he's going to do a poo for a while but just does not really like sitting on the potty or toilet.he just seems to like nappies!I think I'm going to just put him straight in 'big boys pants' and get ready for a few accidents.any tips or advice appreciated!

I am having similar dilemmas with my 2.5 year old - My daughter at just two was ready and the transition to underwear was easy, not sure we ever had an accident. My son however will happily sit in a dirty nappy and when we have tried underwear doesn't seem at all bothered to be wet... I have a feeling this time it could take a lot longer!

With my little girl we just started for quite a while just encouraging her to use the potty every evening before she had her bath and got into a routine. We then started to encourage her to use the potty at other times of the day. We did it all very gradually and didn't rush at all and as a result potty training went quite smoothly.
Good luck with potty training your little boy!

Don't rush it.. Generally speaking, boys are much later than girls to potty train. If he's not showing an interest in sitting on the potty/toilet forget about it for a few weeks - leave the potty in the bathroom and try changing his nappy in there for a bit (when possible obs) - just to get him used to it. Have you got any books? Been to buy 'big boy' pants together (let him choose)? Good luck

Tried my oldest the at 2.5, disaster led to him making himself ill as he held his wee so long, as soon as he asked for his nappy I knew he wasn't ready. Built up to in the summer holidays explaining no more nappies then, and he accepted it, summer came nappy off only one accident. My youngest 3 in Nov just says no thank you to the potty nappy please. Think he will be the hard one!

Hi everyone! Must say was REALLY surprised to see no product review on toilet seats. After much, much research and wasted money. A lot of money. I have discovered new toilet training seat. Consistent great reviews. It has a dial you turn on the underside which adjusts to fit your toilet. It seems to be Baby Journey, forgotten. When I bought the new Tank seat from Mothercare and it slipped and moved around. Bought the cheap white padded ones and as soon as DS sat on it it pressed down under his weight and gave him a real fright-has only used potty and refuses to sit on the toilet. Baby Bjorn has adjusted to fit very securely on my loo and does not move around. Best price was with KidPotty. About 14.99 but ended up cancelling my order with them as they would not respond to emails, could not get thru' to them on the phone-was on hold once for over 30mins !! Only this saved the day. They matched KidPotty price And I got free delivery! Very good! Yes its pricey, but they're going to be using it every day for at least the next year. Best investment you'll ever make.(joi) P.S. it this is a very difficult task, at first. Good luck!
