In general, birth defects are thought to be no more common in infants born following infertility treatment than among those conceived without it. However, a greater number of the pregnancies end prematurely (primarily due to multiple gestation), which can have permanent consequences for a child, including breathing difficulties, blindness and brain damage. With new (but widely used) procedures such as ICSI, there has not been enough time to know whether any problem will become apparent as the children grow older. Recent data from a few population-based studies point to a possible trend towards a higher rate of birth defects and low birthweight in infants resulting from assisted reproduction, even when multiple gestations were not included. However, experts caution that this might reflect a risk resulting from the underlying infertility rather than the treatments used to establish pregnancy.

Hello suara. My name is Amelia. I hope your having a nice day. I think you're asking a very wise question. I have though anout this many times. It's something that goes through every infertile woman's mind I guess. The thing is, it's just not so. You know there is no guarantee that the child will be completely healthy even through normal pregnancy. The same risk exists both times. Now I the risk higher in our scenerio. I highly doubt it. There no evidence to back this up. You k ow it's kind of like the autism myth with vaccines. Something that isn't true yet people believe. Long story short,there no extra risk. Wish you luck on your adventure from now on.

Hey. Hope you are well. This is a common concern. I really don't think it does. Children that are born after fertility treatments are mostly very normal. There is no effect of the treatment on the babies conceived. I hope this was helpful for you.

It’s pretty an old question. I guess an author has already found out the answer. The concern still exists in minds. I’m going to have my own baby through reproductive assistance thus I do not avoid of thinking about it too. As far I know we can observe a generation born with help of reproductive technologies and the assisting methods. They look alright. Ahah. In general, I can’t see a big difference between a process of natural birth and assisted one. Man’s sperm fertilizes our egg and it goes. The embryo implants to the place it must be implanted and then we expect for a pregnancy that doesn’t differ from others. It doesn’t harm our babies, I’m sure. Perhaps it brings an additional guarantee of medical control. I guess it’ll be a day when a man born via IVF becomes a president for example in the US. In fact, every conception and pregnancy mean a relative danger because it’s a complicated process. However, I feel fine because thousands of women give birth after the treatment and everything is all right.

Hi Brandi! It really depends on the clinic you are opting for. That's why it's important to find a good clinic for this treatment. These treatments are quite risky and complicated but it doesn't endanger the children. It's the same like natural pregnancy. Good luck!

That is not at all treatment. No matter how artificial the treatment at the end of the day it is through natural means that is conceived. By this, I mean that even if IVF is used and the embryo is formed in the lab. The embryo is eventually placed in the mother/surrogates uterus. It is where it decides to implant or not. I don't think this is true. I guess this is one of many reasons why it's important that you visit the right clinic for your process. One of the reasons why my process is going so well is because the clinic is doing such an amazing job. They are doing everything very carefully. I am hoping that things work for us. Hey, I hope you are well. That is not at all true. Science says that in both the cases the baby is healthy. Therefore, that is just something who is against anti treatments would say. Otherwise, these treatments have greatly been helping so many people. It is truly amazing. I am in the middle of a process as well. really hoping for it to work.
