Where Do Egg Donors Come from, and Why Would a Woman Want to Be a Donor?

The typical egg donor is a healthy young woman in her twenties who desires to help others in having a baby. In our experience, egg donors tend to be intelligent, altruistic, sincere women who are knowledgeable about the difficulties that many couples face with their infertility. Most egg donors come from the local community near the infertility practice. They have learned about infertility from their friends, family, the Internet, and the media. Many egg donors have their own children and wish to help others to experience parenthood/ pregnancy. Other donors state that they are 100% sure that they themselves do not desire children and wish their eggs to be used by someone else who feels differently. Finally, some donors have undergone abortions for unwanted pregnancy and view the egg donation process as a means to work through their ambivalence about that previous decision.
Most of the donors whom we recruit for our practice have a college degree or are actively pursuing one. Most anonymous donors are reimbursed for their time and the expenses involved in the screening and treatment process. The screening usually takes 2 to 3 months to complete and the IVF treatment takes 4 to 6 weeks.
In our experience, women who donate their eggs are very responsible individuals and genuinely concerned about carefully completing their role in the IVF treatment process to achieve a successful outcome.

A warm Hello to you. First I hope your doing fine. Secondly I wish you well. Now to begin. Egg cells come from, you guessed it, women's. Unfortunately as of right now, medicine cannot create egg cells artificially. They probably never will... The women who do egg donations are usually young and healthy ones. There are some criteria one should fulfill in order to donate. The reasons may vary. Some do it to help other... That's rarely the case! Some do it for the money. Usually that's why people do it. So yeah now you know! I hope this was somewhat helpful to you. xx

I am very glad to read all your submissions. I have been having problems with infertility and I have been in pursuit of the best treatment. Over the days of my realization about my condition, I had to visit my doctor for a diagnosis. I could not muster why I could not conceive. I, therefore, could not get pregnant in return. Life took a turn around and I felt wasted all days of my life. I was the laughing stock to many. What surprised me was to be asked to go for IVF. I could ask myself where all this come from. I thought it was just a matter of cell multiplication as it happens to test tube babies. Anyway, you have helped me a lot, Sarah.

Egg donation is the process by which a fertile woman provides one or several eggs to an infertile woman for purposes of assisted reproduction. After the eggs have been retrieved from the donor, the role of the egg donor is complete.A need for egg donation may arise for a number of reasons. Infertile couples may resort to egg donation when the female partner cannot have genetic children because her own eggs cannot generate a viable pregnancy, or because they could generate a viable pregnancy but the chances are so low that it is not advisable or not financially feasible to do IVF with her own eggs. This situation is often, but not always based on advanced reproductive age. It can also be due to early onset of menopause, which can occur as early as their 20s. In addition, some women are born without ovaries, while some women's reproductive organs have been damaged or surgically removed due to disease or other circumstances.

When an infertile couple comes to the reproduction center the doctors choose for them the surrogate mother. But if the man is unable to produce sperm the doctors will also need the sperm donor. If the woman is unable to produce eggs, they will also need an egg donor. This type is used if there is no intended mother or the intended mother is unable to produce eggs. The surrogate mother carries the embryo developed from a donor egg that has been fertilized by sperm from the intended father. With this method, the child born is genetically related to the intended father. The surrogate mother has no genetic relation. I used to be a surrogate mother several years ago. The doctors used the sperm and eggs of the genetic parents. But I can answer your question. Why? Because I wanted these people to become parents. It was a dream of their lives. But they couldn't realize it without my help. I can say the same about egg donors. There are so many women, which can't get pregnant. What should they do? They need a solution! So, why not to give them a hand? All reproduction centers have a huge base of ergg donors and sperm donors. The only problem of using the egg donor is that the child is not going to get your set of genes. But instead there are a lot of advantages. Genetically donor’s material is flawless because it is checked on all kind of types of abnormalities. Probability of success using donor egg – 65%. Every woman decides if she wants to use the donor eggs or not. The older you are the more chances that you will need the donor eggs. All egg donors are healthy and young. That's why you can be sure that the child born will be healthy. Some people think that women donate their eggs just to get paid. This is not true. I assure you. There are a lot of women, which just want to help!

Hi dear. I am happy to see that you are asking for answers to your query on a public platform. I hope you will get the answers. I will try my best to provide. Women may donate their eggs for numerous reasons. Most tend to be driven by the satisfaction and happiness that they receive by being able to help someone begin or expand their family. Oftentimes, egg donors are family members or friends of those who wish to conceive but are unable to do so naturally. However, in many cases, the donors who work through clinics are matched up with individuals or couples that they previously did not know. According to a survey, 68 percent woman stated that helping somebody was their number one reason for donating their eggs. Another 29 percent noted that they were enticed by the financial compensation that they were given for their egg donation. Of this same group that was surveyed, 100 percent of the egg donors reported that they would donate their eggs again. And if you need expert advice for pregnancy related issues I will suggest Ukraine is the country to go.

Hi! Haha, maybe heaven? That doesn't really matter I think. The only thing that matters is someone is doing a good deed. It's so hard to even imagine a thing like that but still, people do that. I m hoping those people really know how to make other people happy.

What about the surrogates? It is not an easy job at all. And if we are even talking about donating the eggs, it is the easiest thing you can do. You keep losing your egg cells every months up to a certain point. And why not just go ahead and grant a chance to have babies to 1 or 2 women. Sure, I have heard that egg collection is painful but it is not like it lasts for weeks. Also, I have mentioned surrogates. Just imagine going for 9 or so months straight with a baby in your bump and then just acting as if everything is totally fine when the baby is taken away by the actual parents. It must be awful Thank God some of the agencies take care of the surrogates. Our agency, WCOB, arranges meeting with the surrogate prior to her signing the contract. I think it is important to establish some sort of a relationship with the carrier just so she knows whom she's helping. The first contact is set to help us, the IPs, and her, the carrier, to understand the boundaries. She will know that there are people who trust her. We will know who is carrying our baby. It is ten times more important than the donor part. In my opinion. With the donor, we will be choosing her features but that's it. She's going to donate her egg cells and will be free. And we will be trying to stay in touch with the surrogate. Although I am not sure whether it is possible at all given she lives in Ukraine and does not speak English at all.

Usually, couples opt for the DE option when the females own eggs are of low quality or if she has reached the menopause age. It depends on the ovarian reserve as well. The clinic I know of has a database of DE. These are the females who are willing to give their eggs to the people to carry their treatment on. The clinic has profiles of each of the DE in the database. This makes it easy to select. Good luck to you. Sending baby dust your way.

The clinic I am visiting has a proper egg donor database. It has over 100 plus donors. I had to go with the DE option because of my condition. We then were given access to the database. I was amazed to see that there were so many donors. They had uploaded every donor's details along with her bio. I thought that was really amazing. Good luck to you.
